Mug Club Holiday Party!

christmas beerWhat better way to start the beginning of our 17th year than introducing 2 new hops and putting 2 barrel aged beers on tap!? Well how about having a mug club potluck to top it off? We would like to invite you down for a holiday celebration at the brewery on December 9th starting at 6pm. As in years past we will again be collecting donations via the Gift Giving Tree at the brewery. We should give til it hurts, its a great cause that provides gifts to less fortunate children. Get in the holiday spirit and come on down we will have the beer, you guys bring the food, and we can celebrate the holiday season in true Gallaghers fashion.

Introducing Apollo and Bravo!

hops

In the past few months some hops that we have used in the past have just simply become unavailable. If and when we can get these hops again (Simcoe), we will. In the meantime we would like to introduce two new high alpha acid hops that will allow us to get creative and try some new recipies.

Apollo is a super high alpha variety that was developed by the Hopsteiner Breeding Program and was released in 2006. The very high alpha, good storage stability, and low cohumulone ratio makes it an excellent choice for bittering. Added late into the boil it provides a strong grapefruit, and grassy note.

Bravo is a second generation super high alpha variety that was developed by the Hopsteiner Breeding Program and released in 2006. Bravo is an excellent bittering hop that provides a pleasant fruity and floral aroma characteristics.

2 Dry Fly Whiskey Aged Beers
Black and tan anyone?
barrel

Approximatley 9 months ago we got a used wheat whiskey barrel from Dry Fly Distilling in Spokane. First we filled it with a big over the top stout and let it sit for 4 months. Once we felt it was ready we removed the stout from the barrel and it has been aging in kegs (with a few tastings) since then. Into the empty barrel went White Knuckle IPA, which has now been sitting for almost 5 months. Upon tasting the barrel recently we decided it is time to bring both beers out of hiding and present them side by side to you mug clubbers at our holiday celebration. So please join us December 9th at 6pm when we put these special beers on tap along with a brand new beer using Apollo and Bravo hops.

See you at the brewery!

Cheers,
