Greetings!

We know it doesn't feel like it yet, but spring is on its way. That means its time to think about hops in your garden, wine in your cellar, and getting some beer ready for the nice weather we desperatly need aound here.

Rhizome Season is Here!
Time to grow some hops

Chris Hops

Spring is here, sorta. But that means that Hops Direct will be taking orders in the month of March for hop rhizomes. Be sure to order from them! Rhizomes are a cutting of the root of a hop plant that can be planted to create a hop identical to the original plant. These hop "starts" should be planted after the last frost and can grow 25 ft. in a season. Often the first few years after planting will yeild few hops but by the 3rd year you should be able to expect a decent harvest (much like grapes).

These homegrown hops aren't only a beautiful addition to any home garden. They can be used down here at the brewery every year to make beer that has a flavor unique to fresh hopped beer.

We Still Have Few Limited Wines
Our limited wine season is in full swing here at Gallaghers' and you don't want to miss out. This years wines are a mix of old favorites and afew adventurious new ones.

The February limited (California Petite Sirah/Zinfandel) is in and we should be receiving the March limited (German Traminer Spatlese) soon. We still have extras of all the limited edition kits, but the ones from January and February are going fast.

You can find more information about our limited wines here, and if you have any questions please feel free to give us a ring at the brewery.

Wheat Madness

and why not!?
wheat

Recently at Gallaghers' we have seen a resurgence in a particular style of beer. Wheat beer is a style that traditionally is a little bit lighter and more mellow in flavor, even sometimes sweet.

Wheat beers can often be brewed with adjuncts such as orange peel, corriander, candied sugar, and variety of other spices that provide the sweet, bitter, and even spicy flavors.

We have been experimenting lately with recipies such as The Monk(8.5%!) and To the Cloud(with honey). The results have been positive with new and interesting flavors.

The long of the short is that this dreary weather will end eventially end we will all need a nice and smooth wheat beer to drink this summer. So come down to Gallaghers' and brew your very own batch of wheat beer.

10 years and a new shirt

DennisThere is only ONE WAY to get your hands of this wonderful new fashion statement. If you are already a Mug Club member and didn't attend the Mug Club party last week, then shame on you. Last Saturday we hosted our annual mug club party and mug club 10th year anniversary. This is the party every year that celebrates you guys as part of our family.

If you aren't already a Mug Club member, now is just as good a time as any to join. Each $40 annual membership includes our unique mug-club t-shirt (this year's is being modeled by Dennis himself up above), you get a 20oz pour instead of 16oz for the same price (drink large everytime!), and we will invite you to parties and special events here at Gallaghers' (too much fun).

See you at the brewery!

Cheers,

Eric, Jonathan, Jason, Chris, Dennis and your Mug Club Den Mother Ed
